Jesus instructs us in John 4 that if our worship is to be acceptable to God, it must be in spirit and in truth. To worship Him in truth we must answer the questions - “Who is God?” and “What is God Like?” and to worship Him in spirit, we must allow this knowledge to manifest itself in a life of worship!
My Response to Jesus is a Matter of Life and Death
A gift can be offered over and over again, but until it is accepted by the recipient, it does no good. Eternal life works this way as well. Humans cannot earn eternal life as a reward or win it as a prize, we must receive it as a gift from God through Jesus Christ. How do we receive this gift? It can only be received by Embracing Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Our response to Jesus is a matter of Life and Death.
The Power of Jesus is a Matter of Life and Death
If Jesus hadn't specified, Lazarus, when he called him from death to life then every grave in the world would have opened and given up the corpses as they came to life. That is the kind of power Jesus Christ possesses. He has the power to raise the dead, heal the sick and save the sinner. The power of Jesus is a Matter of Life and Death.
Surrender to Jesus is a Matter of Life and Death
Surrender is not something we do naturally. We would much rather dominate others for our own pleasure and prosperity. However, when it comes to following Jesus, surrender is necessary! The disciples modeled surrender, church history is full of examples of surrender and we have a legacy of surrender to carry on ourselves. Even beyond that, our Surrender to Jesus is a Matter of Life & Death.
