Text: 2 Timothy 4:6-8

God tells us many things about discipleship in His Word, but one area of discipleship that is often overlooked is its rewards. Jesus assures us that our willingness to fully follow Him will not be without reward, but there is much about this that we don’t understand. Throughout this study, we are discovering the five crowns, or eternal rewards, that God says are in store for certain individuals. We pray that each crown will encourage you to examine your life and seek His growth and transformation so that you can have confidence and assurance of these rewards in the future.

In this message, we learn from Pastor Rob Spencer how being content with the Gospel leads to being sent with the Gospel. God is blessing Crosslink to be a sending church as we seek to Impact the Valley and Bless the Nations with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As he highlights some of the amazing works of God thus far, Pastor Rob challenges us with this question, “How are you being sent?”

Text: Matthew 11:28-30

We live in a world filled with unrest. Many of us are weary and heavy-laden. Jesus wants us to come to Him and let Him take our heavy load and replace it with His light load. In Matthew 11:28-30 we find three steps to finding rest for our weary soul. 1) We must come to Him. We must trust Him to lighten our load. 2) We must take His yoke upon us. We must humble ourselves before Him and receive His yoke. When we do, we come to realize that His yoke is easy and His burden is light. 3) We must learn from Him because He is gentle and lowly. We do not have a harsh taskmaster for a teacher. He treats us with kindness, meekness, and humility and we find that He is very approachable. We will want to learn from Him because He loves us infinitely. Jesus wants to give us rest, but we must turn from our selfish and sinful ways and come to Him, humble ourselves before Him, receive His yoke, and learn from Him because He is gentle and lowly, filled with grace and love toward all who will come.

Text: Ephesians 4:11-16

A “messenger” is an individual who carries a message to another. When many hear the word “messengers” in the context of the church, we likely envision the pastors and teachers who stand before crowds large and small to give a message. However, we must recognize that if our perspective is only limited to those in uniquely gifted or appointed roles, then we are missing a significant part of our function and responsibility in the Church. If you know Jesus as Lord and Savior, you are called to be His messenger of truth to others around you, especially to other believers. Though the task is weighty and perhaps uncomfortable, it is not impossible. As we surrender to the Lord and obey His Word, He will use this in our life to grow us and grow countless others as we aim to glorify Him. We invite you to listen today so that you can grow to be the messenger God has called you to be.
