It’s easy to forget and neglect the gifts we’re given. One month out from Christmas we can see this reality in action with the presents we received. None of us would ever deny that God gives great gifts to His people – yet, oddly, one of His very greatest gifts we neglect and forget about all the time. Chris Luhrman, a member and Community Group Host at Crosslink, who is the Campus Director of CRU (Campus Crusade for Christ) at James Madison University and Bridgewater College, helps us take a look at who the Holy Spirit is and how He is active in the world and in a Christian’s life.
God’s Relationship With Us
Stuart Shumway has pastored churches in Virginia and North Carolina. He’s a graduate of Liberty University and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He’s currently the Principal of First Baptist Christian School in Stuart, Florida, and leads the educational ministry of First Baptist Church of Stuart. This week he challenges us with Psalm 139 which shows us the remarkably intimacy with which God knows us and loves us, and how He satisfies three of our deepest needs: to be known, understood and valued.

Basic Training: Our Objective
Business organizations have mission statements by which they operate, and the church is no different. Our objective is to make disciples who make disciples. In 1 Thessalonians 1:1-10 we find a church that was effective in fulfilling this objective by responding to the gospel in belief and repentance, by faith that spread everywhere, and by confident hope in the return of Jesus.
Celebrate and Anticipate
As Christians, we understand that ours is an historic faith. Much of our worship stems from remembering what God has done in times past. However, as Christians, we further understand that history is going somewhere and that we get to anticipate what God is going to do in the ages to come. Paul follows this theme in 2 Timothy 2 as he instructs Timothy to Celebrate as well as Anticipate in his future ministry.
